Cade la connessione con ubuntu

Ciao, ho notato che se lascio il pc inattivo per circa 30 minuti, ubuntu non riconosce più la scheda di rete costringendomi a riavviare il pc per poter nuovamente navigare.
Dopo aver inutilmente fatto sudo pppoeconf e relativa registrazione, questo è il risultato di tutti i comandi che sono riuscito a reperire in rete:

Ripetendo i comandi di cui sopra, ho sempre un risultato diverso, (per me senza senso) ma senza riuscire ad esser connesso in internet, a questo punto per poter nuovamente navigare ho dovuto riavviare il pc e a connessione attiva e funzionante, fecendo:

ifconfig ppp0

Mentre l'icona di notifica della connessione, viene sempre segnalata con il pallino rosso come se fosse "inattiva" e cliccando con il ts destro su "informazioni connessione" ho sempre questo errore:

Non è stata trovata alcuna connessione attiva valida.

pur essendo connesso....
Mi vien quasi voglia di disdire l'abbonamento con libero, tanto navigo comunque anche se non sono connesso :D.

Cosa posso fare per risolvere, (a parte cambiare distro)?

Vorrei mai che ci fosse una qualche opzione di powersaving che disabilita qualche componente dopo un periodo di inattivita': potresti mandare l'output di

Nel frattempo avevo installato Debian 5, Fedora 10 e Suse 11,1 tutte a 64 bit e su di un'unico hd riscontrando lo stesso problema con Fedora, addirittura mentre navigavo ed è persino scomparsa l'icona della connessione dalla barra, e poi con Suse, dopo un periodo di inattività di circa un'oretta del computer.
Ovviamente quando succedeva, controllavo le impostazioni del modem-router, secondo il quale risultavo collegato ed anche eseguendo il test sulla connessione, risultava attiva e con tutti i parametri a posto.

A questo punto non essendosi più presentato il problema ed essendo l'unica cosa variata, sono stati gli aggiornamenti di linux, credo che anche questa si sia risolta così.

Per quanto riguarda l'icona della connessione di Ubuntu invece è rimasto tutto invariato, mi segnala che c'è un problema e se clicco su "informazioni connessione" mi dice sempre:

Non è stata trovata alcuna connessione attiva valida.

e come dice il saggio....finchè funziona.... :D

ho risolto finalmente, il fastidioso problema del network manager e quasi certamente tutta una serie di problemi che ne derivano, come ad esempio:
cade la connessione mentre sto leggendo una pagina su un sito, guardo dentro il file "/etc/resolv.conf" e trovo dentro i parametri del provider telecom :shock: mentre io sono con libero infostrada!
Comunque non era la prima volta che mi ritrovavo a sistemare questo file.

Sul portatile di mio fratello un Toshiba con svista e Ubuntu, ho installato WiCd perchè lui fa uso della wireless e il Network Manager non gli funzionava, così è sistemato.
Stavo quasi per fare lo stesso trattamento anche sul mio fisso, se non che, prima di procedere ho dato una sistemata al file "/etc/hosts" inserendo l'hostname al posto giusto perchè non lo era, poi ho dato una bella ripulita al file "/etc/network/interfaces" da vecchie interfacce e righe doppie, lasciando soltanto:
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

al successivo riavvio, il Network Manager ha segnalato correttamente la connessione, senza dare errore ed anche le informazioni di connessione questa volta ci sono tutte :) .

Da quel poco che sò questo è un problema che viene fuori quando si fà il passaggio di versione dalla 8.04 alla 8.1. Così per accertarmene ho fatto che formattare e reinstallare la 8.1 sul portatile Toshiba ed infatti anche dopo gli aggiornamenti, il Network Manager funziona egregiamente, rilevando anche diverse reti wireless, che poi riesca pure a collegarsi è un'altro discorso, ancora non ho avuto il tempo di provarlo, con la lan non da problemi. :D :D :D
